We want to help you produce and enter your own short film into the competition by 4-10-15.
Our Three Workshops cover:
- Brainstorming / Planning
Check our Workshop Calendar and try to attend a Free Workshop somewhere in Vermont through March 2015! You can also watch some of the workshops online.
CRITERIA JUDGES WILL USE TO EVALUATE FILMS:
Sufficient technical proficiency to enhance the story; the story has visual, auditory and emotional impact; the film demonstrates production values that use the medium to its greatest degree. (For example, poor sound quality and / or camera work can detract from the story, making it difficult for the audience to engage with the film.)
MORE SUBJECTIVE CRITERIA:
— Visual story telling (don’t rely on talking heads unless stylistically that is what your film is
about–example: Erroll Morris; rather, show people engaged in activities
— Original treatment of material
— Good structure and story arc
— Good pacing
— Connection to Vermont
— A sense of place
This video has one of our workshop leaders, Scott Miller, with Teacher Felicia Allard, conducts one of the workshops at Hartford Area Career and Tech Center, Vermont in 2014.
**We discourage music videos unless your film is a story or documentary about a Vermont musician or band!
